Why consult

Do you recognise yourself in any of these situations?

Most of my patients come in with pain that has lasted, kept coming back, or is stopping them from doing what they love. If any of this sounds familiar, I can help.

You have had back pain for several weeks

Rest didn't help. The pain comes back as soon as you return to your activities. You want to understand what is actually going on.

Pain keeps returning despite treatment

You have consulted, done sessions, taken medication. It improved, then it came back. The cause needs to be found, not just the symptom.

You want to get back to sport

An injury or pain forced you to stop. You want to get back, safely, without risking making things worse.

You are preparing for or recovering from surgery

Whether before or after an operation, a structured and progressive rehabilitation makes a real difference to the quality of recovery.

Chronic pain is limiting your daily life

You have learned to "live with it". But chronic pain does not mean inevitable pain. A proper assessment often changes the picture.

Your doctor referred you to a physiotherapist

I work in coordination with referring physicians and can provide progress updates on your case if requested.

What I treat

How I can help you

Every situation is different. Here are the areas I work in most often.

Back pain

Acute or chronic low back pain, disc herniation, sciatica, postural pain.

Shoulder

Rotator cuff tendinopathy, subacromial impingement, instability, post-operative stiffness.

Knee

Sprains, ligament injuries, patellofemoral syndrome, patellar tendinitis, meniscus.

Neck and cervical spine

Neck pain, cervicogenic headaches, torticollis, chronic tension.

Return to sport

Post-injury rehabilitation, injury prevention, movement optimisation.

Chronic pain

Persistent pain, fibromyalgia, complex pain without identifiable structural lesion.

Post-operative rehabilitation

Hip or knee replacement, ligament reconstruction, shoulder surgery.

Posture and prevention

Postural assessment, muscle chain rehabilitation, advice for lasting results.

My method

A four-step approach

I don't treat a region of the body. I look for why it hurts. Then I act on that.

Listen

I take the time to hear your story. Your habits, your sport, what you have already tried, what you want to get back. We can talk about anything. My focus stays on your recovery.

Assess

A full functional assessment: posture, mobility, strength, compensation, movement testing. The right assessment is already half the work.

Build

A programme adapted to your real constraints: your body, your level, your schedule, your goals. Not a standard protocol.

Explain

I tell you what I am doing and why. A patient who understands what is happening recovers better and faster, and relapses less often.

Training & experience

Evidence-based practice

I don't work by habit. Every therapeutic choice is grounded in current scientific literature and adapted to what I observe in you.

About

Samuel Monderer

At 16 I dislocated my shoulder playing basketball. The physiotherapist who treated me worked out of a renovated farmhouse. His patients came in with pleasure even though they were in pain. He seemed to genuinely love his work. I thought: that's what I want to do.

I completed two Master's degrees. The first at ULB in physiotherapy and rehabilitation, the classic route. The second at UCLouvain, specialising in sports physiotherapy and manual therapy. Not because the first wasn't enough. Because I wanted to go further in what truly interested me.

I have never stopped moving: sailing on Lake Geneva, taekwondo, weightlifting, climbing, rowing, horse riding, running, swimming. Every sport has taught me something books don't show.

What patients say

Reviews come with the practice.

The Geneva practice is opening soon. Patient reviews will be published here as the first consultations take place.

"Most of my patients come in with pain that has lasted months, sometimes years. They often feel they have tried everything. In most cases, we just haven't looked in the right place yet."

Frequently asked questions

Everything you want to know before booking

Clear, direct answers to the questions my patients ask most often.

In Switzerland, you can see a physiotherapist without a prescription (direct access). However, for reimbursement by the basic insurance (LAMal), a medical prescription is required. Supplementary insurance often covers sessions without a prescription. I will guide you depending on your situation when you get in touch.
It depends on your problem, your goals and how you progress. In Switzerland, a medical prescription typically covers 9 sessions. The number actually needed may be fewer or more. I don't extend treatment unnecessarily.
A session typically lasts around 30 minutes. If a full initial assessment is needed, the first appointment may be slightly longer. I will confirm the duration when you book.
No. I treat athletes, active people, and people who don't do sport at all. My specialisation in sports physiotherapy gives me a precise reading of movement and the body that is useful for everyone, athlete or not.
With a medical prescription, sessions are covered by the LAMal (basic insurance) at the RVS rate. Supplementary insurance often reimburses physiotherapy without a prescription. I will confirm the details when you get in touch.
Yes. I consult in both French and English.
